About the Area

Lacombe Alberta Profile

Lacombe Alberta is a town in central Alberta, incorporated as a town in 1902 and as a City in 2010. It currently occupies 20.89 sq. km and has a population of 11,707, up 8.9% from 2006. The median age of the population is 37.1 years of age with 79.1% of the population over 15 years of age. Majority of population is English speaking.

The 2013 Citizen Satisfaction Survey indicated a high rate of satisfaction with quality of life, being rated by 96% of respondents as ‘excellent’, ‘very good’ or ‘good’ and 95% rated the quality of the environment similarly.

Survey respondents mentioned small-town feel and community friendliness as significant factors contributing to the overall quality of life. Many citizens mentioned historical or iconic buildings, green spaces and natural areas including parks, paths, and trails.

Downside observations echo concerns familiar to many small towns: lack of shopping and higher cost of living. The single-most important issue facing the City was identified as attracting businesses and commercial development.

Services are generally well regarded, while child care and land use and planning identified as areas of concern.

Lacombe provides the benefits of stable growth, small town friendliness and a variety of services.
The town offers many shopping and recreational amenities and is close to recreational lakes, golf courses, a corn maze, major industrial areas and the city of Red Deer. It is also on major transportation routes making it easy to get to the large cities and the Rocky Mountains.
