Living the life on Banderas Bay

Let us introduce you to the lifestyle you never imagined, you will be amazed at the natural beauty the area has to offer. This giant horseshoe bay has over 100 km’s of coastline and is Mexico’s largest bay.

This protected bay is rated as one of the world’s best sport fishing areas for Tuna, Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Snapper, Roosterfish, Crevalle Jack, and Wahoo. Many of the smaller species of fish can be caught after only a short boat ride from the shore. It's a stunning body of water 20 miles wide and suitable for any water toy or vessel you could think of.

There are plenty of options for sport fishing that will fit any budget - from executive style fishing yachts to pangas. For an awesome day of light fishing, take a panga from Punta de Mita and fish the Marietta Islands. On the north side of Punta de Mita you’ll find a small marina of pangas. They will have you - lines in the water - within ten minutes. Prices for a panga and captain are around $50 US per hour. For those serious about sport fishing, in the La Cruz marina you’ll find a boat named Executive One owned by Executive Charters with a focus on luxury fishing charters. This 33ft Cabo has Twin 350 HP Yanmar Diesel Engines and his captain knows where the BIG fish are. Executive Charters came in 3rd in the last big fishing tournament in Puerto Vallarta.

During the months from November to April you can spot marine life from the beaches, terraces and tours. In fact, Banderas Bay offers some of the world's most majestic humpback whale watching opportunities anywhere. See humpback whales spouting, breaching and tail slapping. There’s a lot more to see, though. This magnificent bay is also home to a large population of dolphins, manta rays, sea turtles, exotic tropical fish and the blue footed Boobie birds located on the Marietta Islands.

If sailing is your choice, there is no better place in Mexico. This is true whether you are experienced or a first timer. Sailing classes or personal training on a sailboat are offered by companies in Puerto Vallarta Marina and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Marina. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how fast the sailboats move across the bay with a steady supply of wind. With this large body of water and afternoon winds, the stage for a perfect day on the bay is set.

Take a sailing excursion across the bay and find your private cove for a day to remember. One of the best sailing excursions in the bay is offered by Vallarta Adventures on their 50ft Beneteau deluxe sailboat. This is a first class organization that pays attention to detail and has prices around $88 per person for a day of sailing.

We have 3 large marinas if your looking for moorage in Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle’s new marina. Power boats enjoy the cheaper fuel costs and wide open waters with no crowds, allowing you to open it up when ready. The bay is perfect for water skiing, wake boarding, tubing or floating the day away.

Whether you watch from on land, cruise, swim, snorkel, dive, kayak, go sport fishing or motor boating - this spectacular bay will fascinate and amaze you. During your free VIP stay book an excursion and explore the wonders of Banderas Bay up close.
